This is a link post Cursed Units (mainly SI, not that funny imperial stuff)
I went down a rabbit hole and after wracking my wine-addled brain with some cunning geometry problems (50%, since you asked) I came across this....

Beautiful in its presentation and content, and even citing XKCD, ... what's not to like?

This is a normal post Dimensional analysis really is very interesting.
But I don't understand what his problem with kilowatt-hours is.

This is a normal post Me neither
As a billing unit it makes perfect sense, for electricity anyway. Gas bills? Probably less so, but it does allow a meaningful comparison between them.

Sure it eventually cancels down to Joules, but that’s not an intuitively understandable unit.

This is a normal post Surely it's better than BTU though!
I was very happy when they swapped to kWh for precisely the reason you said - you could directly get a feel for the relative costs, although for heating purposes it can be misleading if you don't account for boiler efficiency etc.

This is a normal post yeah I started getting lost during kWh then
gave up during the gravity bit. I R not sciencey.

This is a normal post I liked this a lot
Not sure exactly how much though, or in what unit.

This is a normal post I know.
But mex3 != mememe either.

This is a normal post Mathematically speaking, that's correct.
But a lot of programming languages allow mathematical operations on strings, and that would be the correct result.

This is a normal post To each his own.
But Christ that sounds worse than syntactically significant white space.

This is a normal post If you measure horsepower per degree of rotation per litre for each degree farenheit, and then refactor by cancelling all the units you get half a horse, usually the rear
