Than a whole day trying to get all the components working in *nix.

I use Linux exclusively on my servers, and on my netbook. I am not biased. This computer was not suited to Vista given the time frame I had.

I'm quite jealous and confused. ssd are hard drives, right? So how does the storage speed up your computer? I am not well versed in these things but would love to know as I have 2.5TB of hard drive space here.

Where as HDDs run on a rotating platter.

They're very much faster and very much sexier. It makes doing EVERYTHING (except processing, like calculating Pi, for example) faster.
