I don't know how hungry someone needs to be to try that shit. I mean really, those people were next to an ocean full of fresh fish. Sure, preserve the fish through the winter. I get that. But why not just smoke it or salt it? Why make it into soap?

They had access to some of the most plentiful fish stocks in the world. Sure, things froze over for a few months each year, but they could have just smoked or salted the fish. Nobody can explain lutefisk.
