# You're being oversensitive
it's utterly tasteless, but in no way breaches the FAQs, and where can't we be tasteless if it isn't b3ta?

(, Thu 21 Jun 2012, 17:24, archived)
# if it was made up I'd have no problem with it
I just can't stomach pictures of genuine animal suffering
but that's just me, as I said I wasn't going to mod it, just expressing personal opinion. which I think is allowed.

# it's all those pictures of a bloke being nailed to the cross that get me

(, Thu 21 Jun 2012, 17:31, archived)
# What, you mean those genuine authenticated photographs of that bloke they did in a few millenia ago?
I'm glad they don't wheel those out too often...
(, Thu 21 Jun 2012, 17:44, archived)
# those are factual historic photos of him :D
if a mod banned me for posting that cat (photoshoped) , then its a bad day on b3ta..and a ban I'd take.

god forbid if they stuck fucking helicopter blades to it.

"just expressing personal opinion. which I think is allowed."

Not really. As a mod, you're the equivalent of a referee at a sport-ball match.

You're supposed to judge goal yes or no, and not pass comment on the quality of the passing the pigs bladder during the build-up, nor whether or not the tabloid rumours about what the chap carried aforementioned bladder over the white line really did what they said he did to that farmyard animal. A member of the audience can say what they like, but as a mod/referee you can't.

# I'm not just a mod
I'm here for the lols and to post stupid pictures myself.
There's no mod rulebook saying I must cease a normal b3ta life.
I'm just helping out with broken links, FPing stuff, removing spam and linking the odd NSFW image

# id rather not know who the mods are
you'll get a chapped arse with everyone kissing it

# other than rob and cr3 I honestly don't know who the others are still :D

This I understand, and it's true of mods on most boards on the internets. It's no fun if it's not fun.

Point is though that as a mod, like the guy on the sport-ball pitch with the whistle, your expressions of opinion are treated slightly differently from everyone else on the pitch. Because you have the whistle. With power comes responsibility, but not necessarily authority.

What you've said in this thread is that the content crosses your personal line, but not the board line. This is the last thing you should say as a mod, because as a mod you're here to enforce the board line, not your line. People here have now self-edited because of your expression of a personal opinion.

There are many things posted here many days that cross the lines of many of us, most of us say nothing. Some of us might argue about offensive stuff, but generally all we have is "ignore" privilege, "flounce" privilege, or otherwise being told that b3ta might not be the home-scene-apple-pie-custard website that mom meant when she sent us the link.

You know all of this already.

# case closed..book him dano!

# If people want to treat me differently that's up to them, I can't stop them, but they're wrong to do so.

I'm not here "to enforce the board line", as I said I'm just helping out with broken links, FPing stuff, removing spam and linking the odd NSFW image (nudity/porn)

so my opinion of what is crossing a line is as irrelevant as it always was

"so my opinion of what is crossing a line is as irrelevant as it always was"

No need to express it then, given that you're in charge of a shiny b3ta whistle.

How's Moggy/Dave getting on in the b3ta dungeons anyway?
(, Thu 21 Jun 2012, 19:31, archived)
# your opinion doesn't matter in the big scheme of things either, yet you're posting away
how come it's ok for you and not me?

no idea about moggy, wasn't me who kicked her off.

"how come it's ok for you and not me?"

Because you're a mod and I'm not.

If you scroll up it's pretty clear that your expression of your personal opinion has caused a scuttling self-edit by a regular. Just because you're a mod and you announced your personal opinion.

EDIT:

Please explain the meaning of this then:

"without wanting to go all Moggy on you, I think that's crossing the line :("

(, Thu 21 Jun 2012, 19:46, archived)
# he edited that because another mod told someone off for using that image a while ago
I can't be bothered to repeat myself any more

EDIT - that was a joke about her reaction to helicopter cat. As in, ranting for days and days about a picture that upset her.
What did you think it meant? errr, you didn't think that was saying I'd ban him did you? If so, you've reeeeeeally got the wrong end of the stick
