i think the only way to to double click the layer, go to stroke and change the stroke to inside rather than outside
but it makes the inside curvy.

That's give or take what i'm doing at the mo, and still looks wrong as you say. So I'm having to do quite a lot free hand,
which takes ages and looks poor as my hands shake like a shitting dog.
