I asked a proper proper gaelgor... from the west coast gaeltacht, he is also a teacher... he said we are wrong about the pronunciation, and that the way you prounounce the spelling you have given the child is indeed A'awn :( ayawn...

for Aidan.. it would be spelt Aodain... with a fada (accent) which i forget how to do.

I also apologise to the woman from dublin from Miz_Emmas office.

is pronounced Aidan though, I guess there may be an historic argument for the pronunciation but the modern gaelic way is Aidan. With the รก there is also an argument for making it sound 'Avawn' but having asked people over the water the populist spelling/pronounciation these days is what we are doing. The arguement is a bit like arguing over the pronunciation of Latin.
