Yes I know, but
HDs have a bit of RAM in them to help speed up the data transfer. I've got an 8Mb cache on my 60 gig HD so I did some back of an envelope calculations to see what size drive would need a 2 gig cache. Do you see?

You could sellotape some SDRam to the cable - that might do it...
