yes
you discovered how they detect hotlink. In the HTTP header, there is a REFERER field, which contains the site that the user came from, or, in the case of b3ta, that the image is being linked from. If you just bung the address in the browser, it'll work fine as there is no referer.
Have I spelt referer right?
