# I
am feeling shockingly pedantic this afternoon and so shall point out that the film of War of the Worlds was entirely free of both tripods and songs, before going on to say "woo" and "yay".

Woo. Also, yay.

# I'm
inferring the War of the Worlds thing from the references to martians in the lyrics...

/edit - and before I put aside the uberpedant hat, Tripods was a TV series.

# War or the Worlds
was not the only story ever to have martians in it you know?

edit/ Tripods was also a book, maybe not the same story though

# Yes.
Mike Harding's "when the martians land in huddersfield" is a personal favourite.

# there were 3 tripods books
two of which were made into tv series's, there was also a prequel trilogy

# Well
to needlessly prolong the agony, Tripods was a TV series, the books were called The Day the Tripods Came, The White Mountains, The City of Gold and Lead and The Pool of Fire. And obviously there have been other things with martians in, but very few of them have been musicals *and* had tripods.

# tripods
was brilliant. i watched it before i was even old enough to go to school, i think

# very fair point
however, the film and the artwork which graces the (oh-so-seamless) background there are both interpretations of the original book

# aah
but in t'original 'War of the Worlds' novel - t'martians had them tripod machines - in t'film they had to not go with that idea 'cause they quickly found out the buggars in real life just fall over.

# Al Bum
The war of the worlds audio album had a picture of people fleeing from tripods, they only fell over when animated.
