That's awful... inexcusable
but not typical. Creating a general trend out of it is, I think, a bit of a stretch.

I guess, but there's paranoia in that logic:
if *anything* happens once, it could become a pattern. I'd hate to give in to a fear of everything (which seems to be an American thing to do these days).
I'm guessing that they won't get away with it. It was filmed, it's all over the web, a bunch of students saw it and complained directly... some of them will file official complaints. And now the media is on the story. And LA police are already under a microscope.
