# I had a go on a Wii
and thought the graphics were poor for 1980s. Great concept, but needs a couple of generations before it actually becomes worth owning

# No denying it has all the graphics capabilities of a 3DFX card that hit the bottle
but it's still a blast at parties.

# it feels rushed
when it's had a few years as a concept to bed in, I'm sure it'll be great
(, Thu 5 Apr 2007, 12:35, archived)
# I agree
but I'd still rather own a Wii than a PS3. Screw it, Xbox 360 it is. They're gonna merge them with PCs anyway and shut out the market next time around.

photorealistic route = less artistic and more costly to create
a team of 200 are needed for a current next gen game
where is all the bedroom coder support?
where will the next generation of coders come from without it?

who want's to spend two years of their life creating something
which may flop at release?

there's more to it than just graphics

# shut it grandad :D
You can have shit hot graphics AND killer gameplay you know ;)

# it all comes at a cost
all the small developers are dying
soon all games will be made by 3 developers
and YOU WILL LIKE WHAT THEY MAKE OR ELSE!!!!

no one can take a risk in an industry where it takes
24 months to create a product

it's like a decent, raw promo tape
verses 200 mill spent on a sugar babe video

you're all being fooled that more money/better looking = the best
:D

# ahhhh, who says the games need to be massive
Blast Factor is a perfect example of super cool graphics and mad old skool gameplay.
I doubt it took more than a team of 10 to make in 6 months and it only costs £3.49 off the Playstation store.

Stuff like that (and the hope for regular bursts of more) is why I am loving the PS3 so far
(, Thu 5 Apr 2007, 12:44, archived)
# yes, there is hope left still
but tell that to lanning
creator of abe and munch
who recently left the games industry to chase
a career in film where he feels his creative
talents are less restricted.

# yup
Microsoft killed his dream :(

The poor install base of the XBox (actually I think it was the 360) meant that Microsoft were unwilling to spend money on his vision. Cnuts.

One of my favourite games ever which I still play regularly runs smoothly on a Pentium 150 :)
Edit: Master of Orion II. Oh, and I forgot Civ, of course.

# true, all true
but I didn't like the Wii gameplay either... I think it'll get better as they improve the technology. As I say, great concept, poor execution this time round
