# in photoshop..you highlight the text
selecting with the Text tool and then simply picking a color in the Options bar, or the Tool, Character, Swatches, or Color palette.

# What software are you using?
To change the colour in Photoshop you have to click on the little wee coloured box at the top, rather than use the one in the tools window.

Obviously the text needs to have been selected first (using the text tool).

If you are using Tattyshop and are having problems then Gaz me and I'll take a look.
