# I don't get why that's the case at all
Those rules were designed to support someone left without an income, and more if you had children, back when women didn't actually work.

Split joint possessions, maybe even enter consideration for earnings that were only possible because of the other person, but once you're divorced then you're not each others responsibilitiy anymore, why should you be paying?

Everyone can earn their own wage these days, I fucking hate sponging culture and wish they'd drag outdated laws into modern times/reality.

from my experiance if you get 30% as a man you have done well, i do have children and do pay towards their upkeep, but 25% of my earnings seems like alot, but then i could not afford a lawyer, she could as the judge decided to award her all costs, great

My missus got his divorce formally through court today but thankfully all it took was for him to agree that he had been unfaithful (which very much wasn't the reason for the split, or even true) to let her divorce HIM, and he doesn't have kids.

Infact I would calculate that she actually owes him, but he's much too nice a guy to chase stupid shit like that up. She was after all heartbroken when he left and had to wait a good couple of months before getting herself a new beau to diss him to.
