Back in 1940, granddad was beuilding the sea defenses in the Middlesex Regt. He was on patrol one night and saw a light in the Westward Ho! Hotel. He went up, had a look through the keyhole and there was a dude with a pile of maps, all marked with the new defences and a transmitter.
On goes the bayonet and off goes the door, on the end of a boot.
Apparently, they shot the spy...
