even though it has killed off another little bit of my childhood
how does this fit the compo?
it appears to be 'just do anything with cartoons'
anyways. it's a good image

The accepted notion of what a cartoon is is very bizarre
Channel 4's top 100 cartoons includes all Pixar animations, Final Fantasy, Magic Roundabout and various others

i'm not disputing that morph is a cartoon. everyone loves morph
but surely you need to specify the challenge other wise you get - anything to do with films, anything to do with music, etc

At least the compo inspired this - which is ace. It's also a lot better than a lot of the entries so far.

who says I don't?
I was just chastising you for saying that a lot of entries were rubbish in comparison to this one, thus hurting a great many peoples feelings in a casual aside.

number 3 covers it, shirley?
though the entry ain't a gif, morph was obviously an animated cartoon? if it isn't, what is the term for animation made in the morph/wallace n gromit style?

number 3 says an animated cartoon, where a cartoon is a drawing
thus an animated drawing.
and you want "claymation", "stop frame animation" or for a more generic term which would have suited the challenege better "kids tv show" for morph or wallace and gromit
Cartoons are cartoons, I'm not actually grumpy about this by the way, just trying to educate people a tiny bit and erase some of the horrible misconception that people have toward a field I sometimes work in :D

It's a childhood animation
interpreted in the style of the internets.
Wasn't that the brief?
*checks*
Okay, I may have stretched it a bit. But I had a morph lying around and he is a pain in the arse to animate, so it felt right.
