every monthwe'd give over our Friday music lesson to a 'jam' session so we could go into the store room and anything that was not out on loan, in the orchestra, stolen would be distributed amongst the class and we'd just play anything we fancied.
I always remember the one spare bassoon ( we had another bassoon but a girl played it in the orchestra for the five years I was there and it never left her side ) would be fought over like it was an electric guitar. I think the thought of playing something bigger than yourself was a draw.
