Pimp My British Design (This challenge is now closed)
The British Design Council is worried that UK design could be going to the dogs. So take classics like a Mini, a Routemaster bus, Dr Martens Boot, a red telephone box, or something you're fond of and pimp it up for 2006. The BDC have an Xbox360 for the best entry and t-shirts for runner-ups, and also want you to hear your wordy thoughts on What would make British design great again?

This was an attempt to incorporate Wales into the Union Flag.
There's no way to cram a dragon into a flag based on crosses on saltires, so I opted for the cross of St. David (gold on a black field).
I experimented with many permutations, and I think changing some of the blue field to black and the white fimbriations to yellow is the least ugly. As someone with a keen interest in heraldry, I'm well aware that this flag breaks the rules by having white on a yellow background. However, I think we could get away with that now. The rules of heraldry seem to have been relaxed with respect to flags. Vatican City doesn't seem to be affected by the no white on yellow or vice versa rule, and Guam's flag looks like a fucking tea-towel.
Unfortunately, it looks more Germanic than anything else. And it must be a pain in the arse to blazon. It looks as though you're shit out of luck in getting on the Union Flag, Welshazoids. Which is a shame, as your flag (the dragonny one) is the bollocks.
Personally, I think we should scrap the Saints' emblems altogether and completely redesign the British flag from scratch. I think we should have a flag with an Iguanadon on it. It was one of the first dinosaurs discovered, and it was discovered right here in Blighty. It's one of the coolest dinos, and how many countries have A FUCKING DINOSAUR on their flags?
