This is a normal post i've heard talk of our american cousins using something called sodder?
maybe that melts at room temperature?

This is a normal post There are plenty of low temperature alloys.
In which case a normal soldering iron would be too hot.
I have some Wood's metal which melts around 70C.

This is a normal post I'm sure a solder that melts at room temperature
would provide a very robust connection that would last years.
