I don't think anyone is comparing the actual fights
but the media circus that surrounds them is pretty tacky and does the image of the sport in general no favours.

yeah, that is true.
PPV's kill the sport too. Only having a small number of people watch so you can get better short term profits, how is that supposed to increase the fanbase?
Much of the farce comes from the big heavyweight era really. It's ok when you have ali and frazier. they genuinely hated each other and don king could put on a show. Not to mention ali genuinely did have a lot of character. but all this forced fake hate stuff is a little embarrassing.
