Coming from Stockport way, I always cut through down the side of McVities onto Burnage/Slade Lane and then down Birchfield Road and Upper Brook Street to get into town and avoid Levenshulme, Longsight and Rusholme as much as possible.
I have been coming home via the A6 in the early hours after working a late shift, when it isn't so bad...
Having said that, I did get cut up next to McVities coming home one night a few years ago and broke my collar bone...
