McIntyre's perfectly ok for his particular comedy audience, just like e.g. Maroon 5 are perfectly ok for their particular music audience. Not ground-breaking or necessarily technically good but it obviously makes people happy.
Richard Herring has done a fine gradual breakdown of MM's material over the last few years over his various podcasts/blogs. I've found it accurate and hilarious. Alternatively, you describing MM's audience as "braying simpletons" is narrow-minded and really horribly arrogant.
I don't find MM very funny either. But on evidence, he's fucking funnier than you.

Reading spacehog's post, I was thinking 'oh, do get over yourself' - until the last line, when I laughed out loud (or 'lolled' as I believe the young folk say these days). On balance, it probably would have been better to edit the rest out, methinks.
I happen to quite like Michael MacIntypre, though I wouldn't pay to go watch him. I neither bray (I tend to chuckle) and I do not believe I am a simpleton (I have a moderate degree).
So that proves it.
