BULLSHIT
All that extra 'vertical resolution' is wasted because it is scaled down to fit into a viewable window on a computer screen.
You are simply left with dead screen space to the left and right for no reason.
Vertical videos are only 'OK' if they're watched on a phone or handheld device, where you can actually hold the screen vertically and you make the most of those screens' limited resolution.
I'll still silently judge the person though.

it's a fault of youtube not supporting this format, not the filmer
sylistically it's the best decision when the action is happening along a verical access, with little of interest on the horizontal margins (ie walls). just becuase one platfoms doesn't support this, why should it limit the videographer
