This is a normal post While I am a big Lynch fan
I mean I love "Lost Highway" for gods sake, I'm currently watching "Twin Peaks" on the lovely new DVD set etc... he is way off base here IMO. Remember the Father Ted bit with Ted explaining "Close... Very far away" to Dougal?

My TV is 20". It's crap. Having my iPod Touch a few inches from my eyes gives, in regards to size, a better experience than staring at my piece of shit TV on the other side of the room. Yet we don't hear Lynch bitching about shit televisions.

I would never buy a movie in an iPhone exclusive format, but clearly Mister Lynch, bless the mad old fucker, needs a lesson in scale and perception.

This is a normal post but...
Perspective dosnt take compression into account, hes referring to all of the tiny details you would miss. Set design, subtle glances, changes of background scenery, all very important when making a film.

It dosnt matter how close you hold it to your face

a. your gonna look like an eedjot with iphone goggles

b. quality diminishes the closer you hold it

of course im not having a go or anything, each to there own and all that, its just the arty film-maker in me being pedantic, i do apologise. id watch t.v programmes on one but never a film.

This is a normal post Meh.
I watched Rescue Dawn on my iPod on a long train journey recently. I'm fairly confident I've now seen that movie.

This is a normal post It's such a sadness
that you think you've seen a film on a fucking telephone (iPod).

Get real.

This is a normal post Really??
Have you seen how big the PSP screen is? It's perfectly adequate for watching a movie on the go.

This is a normal post but
Its about immersion into an art form. Sure ytou can get away with watching anchorman or something but blade runner? schindlers list? your missing so much of the film at that size and compression and its no longer the vision the director had. Its like putting the mona lisa on a stamp and saying thats just as good as the original if you hold it fright up to your face :D

This is a normal post Oh David..
When it takes an hour to download a film to make your train journey in the morning less of a nighmare by detaching you from all the freaks who are sharing your journey, I really don't thiink it matters. We're not sitting in our lounges with iPhones. Bless.
