This is a question Abusing freebies

A friend of mine recently attended a 'Champaign Lunch', where he was compelled drink as much fizzy stuff as he could between the first and last courses. In an ideal world we'd ask restaurant staff to tell us stories about fatties stuffing themselves at All You Can Eat places, but we recognise that our members don't all work in the catering trade, so for the rest of you - tell us something about abusing freebies. BTW: Bee puns = you fail.

Spoiling it for everyone else.
"We will not be running [enjoyable activity] this year because of the actions of a certain few last year."

I hope those running up the big bills, getting disgracefully drunk, and acting like twats feel suitably guilty when they hear those words. Then again, people like that are too selfish to think about anyone else's lost enjoyment.

hmmmm
My wife's company (airline call centre) is sort of like that. In the 6 or 7 years she's been there, they've never had a staff party in the same venue twice. They're usually banned from every venue they use because of various acts of violence, public sexual acts, drug taking, willful destruction of property etc.

My company, on the other hand, just sort of.... accepts it. After all, it's television daaahhhling!

I think that the best solution
would be to publically humiliate those certain few, then hold the event a second time. If those certain few act up again, they get shitcanned.

But then, I'm a parent and believe in instilling discipline in my kids so that they know how to behave properly in public...

I honestly believe
that the British and their relationship with alcohol are more like the Vikings than our continental cousins. Anyone stupid enough to run an event with a free (unlimited) bar is asking to have it abused because the British just do not know how to behave when it comes to alcohol.
Every time I go over to Amsterdam I think how cool it would be to have the same set-up over here (apart from the prostitutes which I could do without) but realise, sadly, it would never happen because we just don't know how to handle ourselves. We can sneer at the continentals, but they know how to have fun without getting stupidly fucked. We on the other hand generally behave like monsters and then moan that we get treated like such. I guess I'm just lucky - behaving like an animal on booze never appeals to me. But get a bunch of Brits together, add alcohol and there's always one arsehole (at least) who will fuck it up for everyone. It might make for amusing stories on this site, but not being able to handle your alcohol might be acceptable when you're a teenager - in a grown man or woman it's not something to be proud of and personally I'd stop drinking if I found it got me as stupidly fucked up as it does many people. Maybe I'm just lucky...and no, I'm not a boring twat, far from it. Just someone who's idea of a good night doesn't involve a trip to A&E or a night in the cells.

As long as no-one gets hurt
then everything is acceptable, in my view.

And you guys evidently like the stories...

Also, the only reason Brits go nuts on booze is because they're told not to. Same reason they do everything else...

If booze/drugs/whatever were demystified there would be no problem.

"And you guys evidently like the stories..."
Not really...not the ones that consist of "I drank myself to oblivion, wasting huge amounts of money, made a twat out of myself, spoiled the night for some other people, left a massive mess for some poor underpaid person to clean up, and I'm PROUD of all this."

i sorta agree with mordred
i've been to Denmark for a festival a couple of times and they LOVe their booze, but its all good craic and comraderie, no underlying sense that things could get nasty
