This is a question Addicted

Cigarettes, gambling, porn and booze. What's your addiction? How low have you sunk and how have you tried to beat it?

Thanks to big-girl's-blouse for the suggestion

According to my spreadsheet
Since August, I've placed bets to the value of £34k.

Returns are £37.5k, though. Damn that post about matched betting on here.

I nearly got into that
a couple of months ago.
But I ballsed up my account opening on betfair and so missed the £20 startup cash thingy.
So I wussed out on placing a first bet as I thought I wouldn't get a return in the near future.
Hmm... tips?

\edit - and happy 5th birthday! It's my 5th soon too!

You're welcome!
Matched betting has just helped me pay off my mortgage and might well pay for a new iMac next year!

...and in case anyone wants to know more - have a look at my profile, or go directly to the site I put together for anyone who wants to know more about this and where to get the best info...

Edit:

BTW, my stats are:

Back bets placed - £40k
Lay Liabilities Offered - £87.5k
Profit - £4250 in 25 weeks

Yup
It was your post that did it. I'd read about it a few times, but never really got into it. I've kept my feet on the ground and only done the books that have actually had decent offers on - I'm still waiting on some of the bigger ones like Lads, WillHill, etc.

That said, though, I agree with the comments seen recently that it does funny things to you. It does. I'm more into arbing now, and will happily sit in front of *cough*Bet*cough*3*cough*65 and arb the hell out of their horse prices. Great fun. Thank you :)
