This is a question Addicted

Cigarettes, gambling, porn and booze. What's your addiction? How low have you sunk and how have you tried to beat it?

Thanks to big-girl's-blouse for the suggestion

Hey!
My bike was 450 quid from a bike specialist shop. Does that mean they were sniggering at me afterwards?

no of course not...
In truth, most people do not even think that they should buy a bike that is worth more than £200.

It really annoys me when some old twat comes in with a complaint about a bike they paid less than £70 for. I just try to look smug when I tell them how much a I paid for my Hope Titanium Hub and that it has never once broken in ten years...

There is a major fuck up though. Good kit lasts. I have had my Touring bike for ten years and that is a mix of XT, LX and Gripshift X-Ray. I spent a fortune on it. It all works beautifully until recently when the rubber grips on the grip shift wore out. Time ot get some new ones... Only to be told "Oh them, they became obsolete about five years ago!" Cuntflaps!

Gutted
I suppose that's a fuck up with really good equipment anywhere that is built to last. Do you think any of your customers get the hint when you tell them how much your bike cost?
I'd like to think so but I guess it's hard to say.

Some get it
but most people who shop in my place want something cheap, so they can sit in the pub and say with conviction that they have a bike, with suspension and disk brakes. What they do not do though is ride the bastards, if they did, I would have to repair more of them.

Cheap bikes are a false economy. These days you only need spend £300 to have something nice and well made. £500 gets you something light and £1000 gets you something light, fast and cleverly made.
