This is a question Best and worst TV ads

"I'd like to give that dodo off the 5 Alive adverts a good kicking," says tom.joad. And luckily, there's tasty, tasty Cillit Bang to clean up the blood stains when you've finished. Tell us about TV adverts.

A 1960s(?) Govt sponsored speed advert...
from eons past...
It's not the context or the content that I hated... it was the whimpering whinging voice that the kid had... I always wanted to kick him in the cunt
I can't quite remember it, but the kid is in the car 'talking' to himself about his parents who are bickering... it goes something like...
"Arguements... There's always arguements".... yadda yadda yadda.. then
"They say bedtime... you're old enough to tell the time, well so is he... the sign says thirty and the clock (speedometer) says 40"

shut up you little fuck... they were only taking you to drop you off at the orphanage!

An American Ad with Teh Kittehs in it!...
well worth it, plus it could possibly be my ideal job, if only I knew where to apply:

Safestyle UK
Wishful thinking here but...

I said you buy on you get one free, I said You buy one you get one free...followed by the staccato clatter of a machine gun and the thudding of snub nosed rounds into his rapidly cooling fur coat clad corpse..

I hate those adverts for Lloyd-Webber musicals
They seem to be on for bloody ages, especially at the weekend.

One thing that really bugs me is the use of bollocks "science-y" language in shampoo adverts aimed at women.
It's the most patronising, insulting bollocks ever.

"Now with added smoothium and enhanced reflectons to give you shine!"

"Increases colour by up to nine times!"

They know it's bollocks, all but the most fuck-witted under-educated, stupid women know it's bollocks, and it's frankly offensive.

It's basically a modern way of saying "Don't you worry your pretty little head about the science of it - we know you like to, so we'll pander to it, but we know you don't really know what any of it's about anyway, and anyway, shouldn't you be getting yourself ready to look nice for men?"

Grrr.

I'd forgotten all about Charlie Chuck

Does anybody remember a really old advert for Double Deckers, involving an old London bus? At the very end, it veers off the road and drives into the woods. This was from about 30 years ago though.

Lying cunts!!
Garnier Nutrisse.

Nutrisse means "nourish".
No it fucking doesn't. Nutrisse isn't a word, any more than Spunkjangle is a word. You made it up. And anyway, only paupers dye their own hair. You might as well say "Nutrisse means you can afford this out of your benefits"

Cunt off Davina. No way you use Lavatory Garnier...

Old spice
In the US, Old Spice adverts are pretty fucking cool. For a nation who's idea of advertising is to basically paint something on a wrecking ball and then continuously fling about this is a welcome relief.

That guy makes me feel all funny and confused inside now.

silk cut
this was really funny back in the 70's though today having a blacked up white actor, who is John Bird from Bremner, Bird and Fortune, might not be so PC. Great lines and the bit at the end is class.

and every time I was using it yesterday all I could think of was Cillit Bang.
I wouldn't mind, but I've never seen one of their adverts - it's all your fault, b3ta!

Kellogs Crunchy Nut Clusters
Ive lost count of how many times this has been on TV tonight.
And its a now a new contender for my most hated ad.
(running a close second to smug french yoghurt lady)
I have a particular hatred for people who hover over a box of chocs for ages trying to decide which one to choose.
Just pick one for fecks sake, its all chocolate, if you dont like the one you chose, just discretely spit the fecker out !
So that bit of the ad where the faux choccie box contains nothing but the same lumps of dry cereal and that bloody woman hovers over it trying to decide which identical lump she is going to pick really makes me growl.
And dont even get me started on the milk fountain and lumps of cereal on sticks.

Crunchy nut clusters?
Clusterfuck nutters more like

When Roberta from Spotify...
interrupts my music by telling me that the adverts I hear are specially selected so that I only get ones relevant to me. Only to be interrupted 5 minutes later by an advert for an artist who produces music from an entirely different musical genre than I listen to, and have no interest in hearing more.

Not good enough Roberta...not good enough.

My mate works in TV advertising and he assures me the sexy ladies in the adverts are not in fact the ones on the end of the phone when you call. I just don't know who to trust...
