Difficulty breathing and sore feetIn Peru on holiday, my best friend and I decided that to cap everything off we should walk the Inca trail to see Machu Pichu. This led to 4 days of walking uphill (incredibly difficult at high altitude when you need to sit and have a rest every 15 steps) and sleeping in the coldest tents ever. Finally, the moment approached - up at 4am to walk up more hill when we round a bend and there before us is a moleste bank of fog. The anticipation as we waited for an hour as the fog gradually revealed something build centuries before so perfectly justified 4 days of hell. It was like something lifted me up inside and took away everything I was worried about for that brief time.
The heading down to the nearest town and teaching some locals to swim in a natural spring rounded the day off perfectly.
