Another one...Last year a patient of mine had been having treatment for cancer. She wrote me a letter after she'd finished treatment. The part I remember most was when she thanked me for being there, and the sentence, 'You made a difference'. I broke down in tears at that moment as up until then I wasn't sure how much good I was doing. Sadly she later died a few months later, and despite feeling sad that there wasn't anything I could have done, her letter helped me not feel bad about it, as I'd done what I could and she appreciated me for it.
