This is a question Beautiful Moments, Part Two

Last week I saw a helium balloon cross the road at the lights on a perfectly timed gust of wind. Today I saw four people trying to get into a GWiz electric car. They failed.

What's the best thing you've seen recently?

It was surreal.
They, of course, make no noise, but you initially expect some type of laser noise, or film projector noise, I don't know.

Instead, it was a serene silence, with just the occasional breath of wind and the knowledge that you were witnessing something eternal.

Actually they do...
It's called the "auroral whisper", and it is a kind of hissing crackle. Rather like you'd expect a large electrical discharge to sound. It needs to be perfectly flat calm and silent to hear it, and I don't think you'd get it as far south as you are.

I've never heard it, although I've seen the aurora quite often. Not for a while though - come back sunspots, please!

nice to be told that it does

I know people who claim they've heard it, but I've read that it's scientifically unexplainable.
On the other hand, the clip attached of someone breathing into a toilet reservoir isn't even close.

I think it sounds like this: new.wavlist.com/movies/172/mat-yak2.wav
