It wasn't until the b3ta mods read the Flashman novels that we changed from mild-mannered computer operators into heavily-whiskered copulators, poltroons and all round bastards in a well-known cavalry regiment.

Last Legends of Earth by A A AttanasioAnyone else read this?
it wouldn't surprise me if you hadn't, but it is without doubt one of the best books I've read.
It is quite a struggle to get through, but well worth having a go if you like sci-fi, and like to be challenged.

Oh yesA.A. Attanasio can be bloody brilliant, ever read Radix? There's a whole series of novels leading up to the Last Legends of Earth too, that I'd like to find one day...

I found Radixin a secondhand bookshop not long ago. weird book, but very good
I've got another of his too, more of a fantasy thing. can't remember the name though....
