my first job, at fifteen,
was with zenith windows, cold calling. I loathed it and said i would never do it again. I never would, either, in that i don't like cold calling people. Equally, if i want a new cellphone, or loan, i'll go look for one. However, i took a job as a stopgap nearly eight years ago, cold calling and selling to businesses. I hsve an excellent service, speak to bright people worldwide and get paid a lot more than some (although it is never enough and every month's cheque us just another target to beat). I'm off to dubai and the us soon, i help new offices get started, train others and i have to think on my feet. I work my holidays (to an extent), i'm under huge pressure, most people don't want to buy (but some do) and my market is great. It's challenging, tough and stressful. But i have responsibility for several people and about 1.4 million quid a year. My life is busy,, and i take calls at 2 in the morning from new zealand. People tell me to fuck off, secretaries and menials mess me about, but i love what i do.
