This is a question Conspicuous Consumption

Have you ever been photographed sat on a balcony eating a croissant; or wallowed in luxury just for the sake of it? What's the most ostentatious thing you ever seen or done?

My boss
Has been having some work done on his house; new kitchen, bathroom etc. The kitchen tap alone cost £1600 to buy. £1600. For a fucking tap.

Does he have a daughter?
Or, indeed, for someone with that amount of disposable income, a son?

daughter

Ace. Give me her name and telephone number, and I'll split the dowry 95/5.

80/20

and you've got a deal

I knew I could have bartered for more.

Your Boss is no fool
We saved a fortune on our fitted kitchen. The guy at the shop said - just go for lots of cheap units and lowest spec appliences but get the most expensive tap you can afford, that's all anyone looks at - he was right. Kitchen is twice as big and came in at half the price of the in-laws and we have a much nicer tap.

In-laws think we spent twice as much as them when we actually spent half what they did, just because of the tap.

Gayer
I bet you like playing with the bosses tap.
(, Tue 2 Aug 2011, 15:25, closed)

I suspect, at that price, it's more likely to be a faucet.
(, Tue 2 Aug 2011, 15:33, closed)
for that kind of money you don't have to faucet

'tish!

I don't understand things like this.
If you have that amount of money to spend on a tap, then why not pay a local foundry/plumber/artist/whoever to make you a one off? This goes for just about anything that costs two orders of magnitude or more than the norm, including cars, houses, computers and bathrooms.
(, Tue 2 Aug 2011, 17:38, closed)
Yeah, this
If you really want to spend silly money on stuff, make sure you're getting exactly what you want.
(, Tue 2 Aug 2011, 17:58, closed)
I spit on your tap...
...and clean it via my own story!
