This is a question My Biggest Disappointment

Often the things we look forward to the most turn out to be a huge let down. As Freddy Woo puts it, "High heels in bed? No fun at all. Porn has a lot to answer for."

Well, Freddy, you are supposed to get someone else to wear them.

What's disappointed you lot?

I'm going no where
I don't know about you lot but my biggest disappointment so far is that even though I'm good looking and I think I have a good personality, I STILL don't get anywhere with the ladies!

Sure on the saturday night I pull more than my other friends but why in the HELL do none of them ever see me as more than just a friend?

I will never understand girls, if I'm really honest my biggest disappointment in life so far is not being able to understand what the hell goes on in a woman's mind.

Are there any other blokes having this problem? I'm 17 going on 18 and im wondering will this get any bluddy better with age?

Oh and just a quick edit, my poor old nan always used to say that when I was older all the ladies would be after me, well guess what she was bluddy wrong. I should have put that in the other QOTW but i was a bit late so thought I'd throw it in here as it seems relevant.

Well...
If you think you're good looking, and think you've got a good personality...
*shrugs*
Maybe you come across a bit self-satisfied?

Ahahahahaha!
Jesus, 17 going on 18? You've got plenty of time, mate.
Seriously. Hardly anyone your age has got it going on yet. There's a hell of a lot more talk than action. And if there's one useful piece of advice I can give (this is turning into last weeks qotw), it's to remember that almost everyone eventually finds someone (even if it's not perfect). Most people even manage to reproduce at some stage. Now there's a miracle.

Ahh
Sorry didn't mean to come across big headed with the good looking thing, only going on what people have told me in the past.

*grins*
I thought so, just teasing!

Seriously though, just let things happen, don't expect too much, and you'll be pleasently surprised.

You're still young mate, when I was 17 times were hard, but when you get older you'll have more than you know what to do with, sometimes you'll wish you had none (Women can be a pain in the arse)

Also, women can tell when you're desperate and nothing is more of a guaranteed leg-shutter. Be cool and act like you don't want any and you'll get loads ;-)

I imagine
your gran meant when you were a little bit older than 18. I didn't grow into my looks until I was 25.

^And Kaol is very dashing!
17? Wow, I've got 11 years on you and I still don't know how women operate - and I'm getting married!

Just enjoy life... when the right ones come along, you'll know!

^this
I didn't "grow into my looks" until a couple of years ago i.e. I stopped being a fat bastard and grew a stylish beard

you are worried that you are 17 and don't understand women?

you have no idea. I'm 26 and understand them less now then I did at your age. and I'm certain that as time goes on I will understand them less and less.

:D
Suddenly i see that perhaps men are not meant to understand women :P
(, Fri 27 Jun 2008, 14:18, closed)
the secret is
they don't understand us either!
(, Fri 27 Jun 2008, 14:24, closed)
Hang on...
I'm very dashing?
What?
Bollocks I am.

Paraphrasing...
...that famous resident of Highgate cemetery (Freud):

"all my life, I have tried to answer the question what do women want?"

Seriously though at 17 don't be worrying. You've got years, decades ahead of you.

Good luck
Ed.

The thing
That really gets me is. Why do girls say one thing and mean something COMPLETLY different?

Is there some way of understanding their covert meanings? Because I'm really fucked when it comes to this.

Understanding men and women boils down to this:
Women are insane.

Men are stupid.

edit: Scobro - I can't speak for my fellow ladies, but I always aim to say what I mean.

HLT
It's the men who're insane that you want to watch out for...
(, Fri 27 Jun 2008, 14:44, closed)
I agree with HLT
Girls that play pointless mind games with their menfolk make me ashamed to be female. There's no need ladies, everyone'd be much happier if we all said what we meant instead of playing guessing games and leaving things up to interpretation.

@ Kaol
Really? Do tell...

my life is so boring
(, Fri 27 Jun 2008, 14:51, closed)
I would...
But I don't think ancrenne or Mr. Tulip would like me very much if I unleashed my depraved mind on you.
(, Fri 27 Jun 2008, 14:56, closed)
I didn't mean literally!
but you're probably right.

I'm feeling all umpty today. Must be something in the air.
(, Fri 27 Jun 2008, 14:58, closed)
Umpty?
Is that a word?
(, Fri 27 Jun 2008, 15:09, closed)
hmmm
worry if at 30 your still in the same situation.
(, Fri 27 Jun 2008, 15:13, closed)
I'm 32 next week, married for 5 years
I still don't understand, but here's the little that I've figured out:

1) When women say things, their statements often necessitate "reading between the lines" to fully understand what she is saying.
2) Most of the time, men are incapable of reading between the lines, and thus the true meaning of her statement flies right past him.
3) When a woman hears a man talk, because she herself often says things with hidden meanings, she will sometimes interpret his statement as having a hidden meaning. Of course, since he barely has enough mental capacity to keep his socks matched and his fly zipped, he certainly intended no hidden meaning.
4) She will then react to the perceived hidden meaning in his statement, even though he meant no such thing.

At least, it works* that way with my wife and I.

* "Works" may be somewhat of an overstatement.

It is a word, yes
Granted, it was invented by Pootle of the flumps, but it's still a word.
