I currently shoot on Canon, as that's the body I learnt on and built up lenses for.
However, I understand Nikon tend to be slightly better in low light, which is dominant in my style, so when I have the sponds I intend to get a Nikon, and a similar set of lenses.

Thing is, photography technology is advancing so fast that increasingly the only advantage an SLR really has over a PNC is having no shutter lag.

Having said that, being the control freak I am, I like to do everything manually.

But yes - like you - it's a tool for getting a job done; not a sportball team or a family member, and such people that get upset about it need to be shot.
