I think I'm normal in pretty much every other way but feel this need to be polite to these inanimate objects that spunk money when you press the right buttons

On a similar theme......when I've got the kids with me when I'm at the machine, I always lean in closely to the machine and say in an old biddy voice "Excuse me, but is the manager in?"

Talking to inanimate objectsI was pruning some dead wood off a tree, many years ago.
~When I accidentally cut off a living branch I apologised to the tree. Profusely.
I am not a tree-hugger.
