This is a question Things we do to fit in

"When I was fifteen," writes No3L, "I curled up in a Budgens trolley while someone pushed it through the supermarket doors to nick vodka and Benny Hedgehogs, just to hang out with my brother and his mates."

What have you done to fit in?

I pretend
that 99% of all movies that are released don't either bore me to death or make me hark back to when 'twere all fields and films weren't shit.

In doing so, part of my soul has died, as I pretend to like Saw 83.

Oh, I find most new fillums boring too.
There're only so many ways you can murder someone, or shag them, or blow things up...yawn.

I don't pretend to like them, though. That way, when one does interest me, I enjoy it more.*

*unless it's crap after all, in which case I'm disappointed again.

I realised I'd carried it a bit far
whilst watching "The Day After Tomorrow" with my ex. After moaning all the way through it, I said "Oh for God's sake, they're being chased by frost!" and at that moment my ex exploded in a whirlwind of violent rage and stormed out the room. Shite as it was, I realised she'd been enjoying it and I'd completely ruined it for her. I felt a prize twat, and since then I've kept the eye-rolling and smart arse comments to a minimum, unless I'm in like minded company. So much so that when somebody enthusiastically showed me a trailer for the new Star Trek film, I pretended it didn't look mince.

It looks mince.

I've pretty much given up on American movies these days
Though the Russians are coming out with some nifty shit - anyone seen 9th Company?
