Clutter
If it has not been used in 6 months and is not a Christmas decoration or your photograph/home-video collection, then bin it, sell it or take it to charity shop.

The contents of a bloke's shed are the exception.

I will never, ever throw away the letters my father, sisters and various girlfriends have written me over the years
But on the flip side, any that I've written - particularly to girlfriends - I would be quite happy to see burnt and pissed on.

If I haven't used something in a while, I put it in a bag and stash it in the wardrobe, under the bed, etc.
If I haven't missed it after 2 months, out it goes.

We get a skip
Every six months or so and dump, recycle or charity as much as we can. From this I can surmise the following:
1) Your advice is good.
2) We spend way too much on stuff we don't need
3) The relatives need to rein it in a bit at kid birthdays/Christmas
4) Cat fur gets everywhere
