Inappropriate titlesThe John Adams piece Short Ride in a Fast Machine has a somewhat strained relationship with the Last Night of the Proms. It was due to be played at the Last Night in 1997, but was shelved in the wake of Princess Diana's unfortunate death.
Then it was rescheduled.
For 15th September 2001.
Whoops.
I laughed when I heard this. All my colleagues now think I'm a twunt of the highest order.
