This is a question Changing Your Mind

monkeon writes, "People tend to seek things that back up already held beliefs, but what books, films, or real-life events have actually changed the way you think about a subject?"

I'm a liberal in apostasis
I would like to think that good intentions will have good results, but I've come to see that it seldom works that way.

A truly rational pragmatic conservative approach; what has worked in the past has a good chance of working in the future, has a better chance of success.

The only downside is that when a conservative fails, the failure is complete. There is no 'I meant well'. The only proper recourse to 'I did it because it works, but in this case it didn't' is to put a loaded gun in your mouth and pull the trigger.

I'm new here. *Smiles coquettishly*
I've seen this before, what's it mean to "win", is that like fake internet points (like imgur) or something?
I think it's a compliment and will take it as such.

If you were less stupid you might have put "http://" at the start of your link so it worked when people clicked on it
As it is, having followed the link to some sort of dull '80s pop rock by Michael Hutchence, I can only assume that you're signposting that you're going to hang yourself in some sort of auto-asphyxiation thing.

And then I can only stand back and applaud. The world literally needs fewer people like you.
