This is a question Mix Tapes

Everyone's made a mix tape (or CD, USB stick, or whatever kids do these days). Mostly to get in someone else's pants, but we're sure there are other, lesser, reasons too.

So, who did you make it for and why?
And... what was on it?

b3ta mixtape (redux)
Inspired by Frankspencer (below), what about the best possible mix tape?

I'll start the ball rolling with possibly the single best song ever by anyone: My Sharona by The Knack. Dunno if that counts as a guilty pleasure... but it is ACE.

mix tape pleasures?
might have to be Devil Went Down to Georgia by the Charlie Daniels Band. Admittedly, a worse guilty pleasure would be admitting that I own a Panic! At the Disco album.

man....
I can't stand that My Sharona song

any good mix tape has to feature Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys

also, any tape made for the purposes of driving has to start of with East Bound and Down by Jerry Reed (from Smokey and the Bandit)

I agree with crackhouse
I even have the Greek version ( to The Devil Went Down to Georgia) although it's far too fast to which to sing along :o/
The Levellers do a canny version of it too.

Devil Went Down To Georgia.
I have vague, alcohol-blurred memories of getting on the floor to this in a Birmingham Rock Club.
Ever tried to hoe-down and headbang at the same time? Not easy.

Achy Breaky Heart

Driving song
'Danger Zone' from the Top Gun soundtrack. Adrenaline doesn't even come close.

I was 8 years old and on a bmx at the time (the closest I could manage to and F14 Tomcat)

Was out in the mid 90's - I'm scared to search for details at work!

Gods Gift to Women
by The Macc Lads...

"Well she said I was good-lookin'
and I looked a bit like George Michael,
But she didn't want a fuckin'

Makes me melt every time...

^ we had a pint
with Stez Stix a couple of months ago.
Thoroughly embarassed his 19-year old son in the process :o)
Never did establish if it was my singing or the lyrics wot did it...

I think you win ;o)

Mix Tape Pleasures
How to choose just one?
Off the top of my head though:
Warren Zevon - Keep Me in Your Heart.
Never fails to bring a tear to my normally cynical eye

Can I suggest
Anything from Marillion's Clutching At Straws album. Can't think of one song in particular - they're all equally good.

And yes, I'm showing my age.
