So, it looks as thoiugh the dead spy in a bag thing is over,
and there was nothing dodgy in the case. Do you believe this? Do you think the government is covering up something? Do you trust the buggers? Are you bothering to vote tomorrow?

Smiley Culture
I've just bought tickets to the Da Vinci anatomical drawings exhibition at Buckhingham Palace for Monday. Get me, I'm so cultural. I'm currently reading a translation of the Icelandic saga of Njal, too. I'm really 'into culture'. But are you? Or are you more of an 'X Factor and James Patterson' kind of wanker?

Defend you oafish interests, you grotty peasants.

So it's the 1st of May
What do you have planned for this month? Which is one of the best months generally, 2 bank holidays and my birthday. How awesome is that?

Here's a new thread.
I see the French National Front came a fairly hefty third in their presidency first round. As we all know, the French are to a man (soz Kroney) a bunch of racist, smelly cowards who’ll do anything to protect their subsidised shit wine production and spend their lives striking and generally making a nuisance of themselves, and smoking Gauloises. They’ve always been like that, so it’s no major surprise. The cunts.

But do you think that we with our basic human decency and our noble, Imperial tolerance and sense of fair play, will ever become so hemmed-in by ghastly foreigns overrunning our green and pleasant land, that the so-called ‘far right’ will ever gain such respectability? As the island becomes more and more cramped is it an inevitability?

(clue: I'm looking for kneejerk grandstanding, outraged worthiness, people storming off the board, accusations of various prejudices etc)

EDIT Alt: I see Duran Duran are playing a gig for the fucking Olympics. Is there an act/person you consider to be a more fitting choice?
(, Tue 1 May 2012, 10:23, 160 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
So, the courts have ruled that The Pirate Bay should be blocked by ISPs
And immediately lots of ill informed arguments commenced on the internet about whether or not copying a film is "theft" or "copyright infringment" and whether or not the BPI have actually bothered to do any research on whether or not people who download stuff actually buy more stuff too.

John Humphries took the biscuit though, for immediately saying that it was the duty of the ISP to block pornography so that children couldn't access it.

How upset would you be if they blocked porn on the internet?

ALT: Over the road from my house there has been a car parked for months with a big advert tied to the roof

It finally got moved last night (after complaints to the council) but they left two traffic cones to try and reserve the space. So this morning I moved the cones and parked my van there.

When were you last really petty? Battered, there is no need for you to answer this one.

where is everyone this evening?
Do you have recurring dreams? I do, there's a few, but mostly they involve water or a big house I now know well but have never been in.

alt: why isn't the world perfect?
(, Mon 30 Apr 2012, 20:33, 32 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
finished my first day at my new job
Sadly my induction covered none of the important questions like "where are the toilets?", "how often can I slope off for a fag before it's considered taking the piss?"and "where can I get a decent pint round here?"

Also whileI had a PC and a desk I was of course missing half the accounts and half the software I needed so I didn't get to do anything constructive. Par for the course I reckon.

Then crammed onto the tube back to Euston just in time to get a table seat back to Brum.

How was your day?

And so as that thread limps along to slow inevitable death, along comes another exciting opportunity in the form of this thread.
I cooking chachouka for dinner tonight and I'm going to listen to Brian Jones Presents the Pan Pipes of Joujouka whilst eating it.
How might your dinner rhyme with what you are listening to/watching/reading/whatever?

Alt: More Quentins? Have you got a Quentin sock account? Why not?

Alt alt: I don't care, I'm going home in half an hour.

My loser housemate is dropping out of the same course he dropped out of last year.
Because he can't get up in the mornings to attend lectures. It's a degree in advertising so it's not like it's taxing or anything. What witless morons do you know? First one to say Bobby get's a prize.

Alt: How did you revise for exams? Tactics please.
(, Mon 30 Apr 2012, 13:54, 112 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
Un-necessary arguments
Obviously we all argue about everything on here but what other arguments have you ended up having about nothing?

I was in a pharmacy yesterday and was getting grief for having taken Co-Codamol for longer than three days as it can cause "addiction". Quite why I could be addicted to pills that don't fucking do anything is beyond me.

I got up at 5:45 this morning
And still had to run for the 6:50 train even though the station is less than 5 minutes from my door.

This was after briefly waking at 4:50 and then falling back into a dream where I overslept until 9.

How long does it take you to get out the door of a morning?

There ain't much going on tonight, is there?
How can such a dullard as I improve things? Not by a huge margin, I expect.

When you cark it, where are your remains going? My answer in replies.

It's Friday afternoon. Poets day, and that.
In honour, write a short poem about how you feel today.
I'll start:

I've had enough
Of colds and stuff.
My snotty nose,
So red it glows,
And my hacking cough
Can fuck right off.
Come join my thread
Cause soon I'll be dead.

Alt: It's May on Tuesday. We're a third of the way through the year. How's it treating you so far?

Steps thread is dead.
Who are your top 'borderline boilers'?

As Viz put it, 'Your head says 'no' but your nuts say 'go!'

So, ropey looking suitors who you'd love to spend the night with.

Alt: Weekend plans.

Steps played here last night,a venue car parking guy offered me 2 tickets for a tenner, and told me "I can hardly give them away".
He then asked did I want them anyway? I had to think quite hard before refusing. Have you ever turned a freebie down?
Alt, presumably lunch?

Real man thread
For the completely bollocked of us.

Have you ever had an operation? Have you ever stayed in hospital?

I had salmonella poisioning and had to stay in for about a week when I was about 12. That was it.

Alt: Do you think the Chinese are playing a practical joke on this guy? www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-17865465
"Ah yes, you torrarry esclaped Guangcheng, can roo rear da birds? Freel ther raves"

All the time just playing him a tape of outdoor sounds and splashing sea water on his feet.
