I've never had a one night stand. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to have missed. Recreational shaggage is fine and fun but it's possible to have no-strings sex and also *gasps* be mates with them (and not be in a relationship with them).

don't get me wrong, I'm all for the sports sex and enjoy it hugely, it's just that I prefer to know a little (only a little) about them - like how much of a freak they happen to be, or where I can get hold of them with the STD test results. For me, fuck buddies win over one-night-stands.
Also, I'd never pull that way. I need to talk them into shagging me.

One night stands
are harmless if both partners agree going into it that that is what it is, and appropriate precautions are taken.

That said, they also suck.

See, aside from the moral dilemmas they raise, there's also the fact that really great sex doesn't happen until you've been with someone for at least two or three times and know what they like. The first time is always awkward and not that great, the second time is a bit better because you start realizing what's going to work, and then after that it gets really hot.

Far better still is to find a fuck buddy who will agree up front that there will be no major emotional involvement, that it's strictly for sex. The hard part of that is sticking to that deal and not falling in love.

If you can do it, good. If not, you're going to need to develop a good grip and buy plenty of lube.
