Apparently during the 2001 censusNaturists were being encouraged to write "nudist" on the form as their religion. Allegedly if there are 10000 or more followers of any religion, then it has to be recognised officially, and so they would be allowed to wander about in public in the buff with legal protection.
I don't think it worked, judging by the lack of naked people walking the streets!
