hahah, seriouslyI cant believe your being so anal about my hamster's actions. He didnt see the food. End of. The point of my post was that by turning the light off - wouldnt make any difference to if he could SEE or not see. As in, my hamster cannot see in the dark, any better than he can see in light.
But your right, I was talking about his sense of smell... because that was the point of the post wasn't it, you could tell that by how I said he couldnt 'see' the food.....

PPS it was a piece of carrot (which he bl00dy loves btw), and he found it after about 5 or so mins of 'sniffing about'.
