Terrible ParentingMy parents used to lock my brother, sister and I in the car while they went to the pub for a "quick one" after work. This quick one might last several hours, during which they would send bottles of Indian Tonic Water to us by way of refreshment.
On one particularly cold evening, bored stupid, we lit a small bonfire on the back seat of the car using the cigarette lighter and the contents of the glove box. We owe our lives to passing winos. (BTW: Please no more Maddie or Jesus gags, they've been done.)

Forgot me at the hospitalI was 5 and had to be admitted into hospital to have my adenoids out. I was there for a whole week.
Collection day was Saturday and all the other parents picked their kids up one by one.
There were two of us left before the other kid got picked up. My parents were nowhere to be seen.
2 hours passed and I was playing jigsaws with a nurse who had frankly better things to do.
Shortly afterwards my parents charged in and explained to me that they had totally forgot to pick me up.
