Totally agree...Especially as this was not too long after 9/11 and tourist numbers (especially Merkins) was well down. They were all really struggling to make a living.
My friend's husband, as tight as she, would haggle with the bartenders to save a penny on a beer, reckoning he was entitled to locals rates.
Pah!
