This is a question Training courses, seminars and conferences

Inspirational or a waste of precious slacking-off time? I once went on a buzzword bingo-laden training course which ended up with my being held at gunpoint in public. Could have gone better, to be honest. Tell us your tales from either side of the lectern

Instant trainer fail
The first day I worked for *****, we did the manual handling course with a woman who introduced herself as possessing a law degree.

Now, if you have an LLB, but you're working for £21K a year for a grocer in your 30s, you probably didn't do very well.

Oh yes. The first thing she asked me to do was to demonstrate a "bad lift". Arms outstretched, bent waist etc.

"Sorry, no".

"You have to do it, or I can't pass you, and we'll have to withdraw your job offer."

"Ok. My mortgage is £41K; how much of it would the damages cover if my back went?"

Dead silence. Eighteen months later I left, having won £11000 in back shift payments for over 60 other guys in my shift. Evidently shit lawyers were common throughout the firm.
