This is a question My most treasured possession

What's your most treasured possession? What would you rescue from a fire (be it for sentimental or purely financial reasons)?

My Great-Uncle left me his visitors book which along with boring people like the Queen and Harold Wilson has Spike Milligan's signature in it. It's all loopy.

Either that or my Grandfather's swords.

Whats important to me
On a more serious note……sorry for downing a Friday

I split up with the girl of my dreams last year. After a seven year relationship it all ended. I would like to say it was on equal terms, but, the truth is she was fucking her boss behind my back. I was completely devastated – not just for being cheated on, but, I lost the flat I worked so hard to get (could not afford it on my own). I lost my cat (she took it). And I lost seven years of happy memories. Most importantly though I lost my dreams. I completely stopped dreaming for about 6 months. I had no happy memories and I was completely broken.

But

I found out one very important life lesson. I learnt exactly how lucky I am to have THE BEST FRIENDS humanly possible. They all looked after me in a way that I could never imagine. They dusted me off, they picked me up and they cheered me up. They all got me living again.

I possess the greatest friends on earth and I am one lucky individual for that.

*Omar, Joe, Caroline, Mel and Julia – Thank you!!

Snakes with tits.
Sorry to hear about your being fucked over.

I guess that you should never underestimate the blessing that is a straightforward, honest woman. This is highlighted by your story showing just what evil, deceitful, viscious, sadistic, self-serving, back-stabbing cunts they can all be when they try.

Looks like we've had a similar year....
Except I kept teh cat :)

I split up with my mrs of almost 7 years last year and was left feeling in complete freefall.

I had lost contact with alot of friends/been too lazy and comfortable to give them the attention they derserve but was so impressed with how they all came through - one of my mates even leant me the cash to set myself up in a new flat.

oops
That sounds rather harsh when I re-read it. My intention was to emphasise that women are so much better at manipulation and deceit than us. I have a wonderful wife whom I love more than anything (except my baby, but that's different).
Womens 'emotional talents' can be fantastically tender yet unbearably harsh.

I have a few friends like that.
In my darkest hours during my divorce, when I was debating whether to quit engineering school or just ram my Honda into an overpass, three people kept me alive and moving.

Richard, Adrienne and Day- I literally owe you three my life.

Teh Women
All women are whores and should be treated as such, just remember,
What is love ? It is a chemical imbalence in a man's mind to think that one woman will be different from another.

(Look carefully in future, there are some semi decent ones out there !)

@ Betty
And all men are rapists?

What utter crap.

@ KMWIP - friends are always the saviour in a break up. Even folks on here kept me sane(ish) when I split up from the ex-Mr Chickenlady.

You brought a lump to my eye there.
True friends, as yours are, are friends for life. Not many relationships come with the same guarantee.
Both men and women can behave atrociously to eachother. Glad you're living again, and some day you will find a good woman worthy of your affections.

Take care x

So far this has never happened to me
but I have been in the 'best friend' position to a friend who had just got divorced. We went off on a mega-backpacking trip together - starting off in Poland with no plan and ending up in China.
