This is a question Winning

I once won a gas boiler from The Guardian. Tell us about times you've won, and the excellent and/or crappy prizes you've lifted.

I won a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
All inclusive. But my g/f doesn't like tropical climates ever since she developed vertigo while we vacationed in the Bahamas a couple years ago. Also, some of my friends tell me there are people being beheaded there. I'm supposed to use this vacation this year. Guess I'll probably just have to sell it instead.

I was there a few years ago.
It's probably to an RCI place just outside of Cabo San Lucas and they'll ask you to sit through their sales pitch to try to get you to buy a timeshare. In exchange for sitting through it we got a choice of either a bottle of very high end tequila or two day's free use of a car. We took the car.

If you get that opportunity, I highly recommend it. We drove to Todos Santos, up along through the desert, and the landscape was amazing. There were little pseudo Catholic shrines every few miles along the road, with candles burning in them. We walked a chunk of beach where the waves were pounding, and passed by a cove where people were swimming. It was GREAT.

Oh, and they had a poolside bar with concrete barstools just under the surface. Best part was that since it was all-inclusive, they didn't care if I poured my own beer from poolside. \o/

Nah nothing like that with the "catch"
I won it in a raffle at a golf tournament and the prize was donated by a person, so really all I have to do is tell them what week I want to go.

The other thing that might help is if I had an income right now.

If
it's all inclusive and you stay in the complex then you won't need much money (a few tips go a loooong way in places like that), so an income is surplus to requirements.

You'll still get the timeshare hard-sell though regardless of where it came from. They'll trick you into 'breakfast' and things like "$150 if you have lunch with us for 30 mins" etc... Just avoid them and go and have a blast!
